Equipment Guarding
In industrial settings, safety is paramount. One of the most effective ways to enhance workplace safety is through the use of machine guarding with wire mesh cages and partitions. These systems not only protect workers from hazardous machinery but also contribute to overall operational efficiency. Here’s an in-depth look at the importance and benefits of machine guarding using wire mesh cages and partitions.
Machine guarding is essential in any environment where heavy machinery and automated systems are in use. These safeguards are designed to protect workers from potential injuries caused by moving parts, flying debris, or accidental contact with equipment.

Expanded Metal
Expanded metal is an extremely versatile material. It is available in a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as a wide range of mesh sizes. SUNON has the widest range of expanded metal products in the industry. Although there are standard designs, what makes our process so versatile is the pattern variations you can choose from. These patterns can be specified to achieve whatever characteristics are most critical for your specific applications. When selecting expanded metals, there are many considerations to keep in mind. For instance, increased pattern size alters the open area and improves cost-effectiveness, while varied strand width changes both the appearance and weight.

Galvanized
Galvanized After Wire Mesh – Alloy Overview
Galvanized after wire mesh, also called hardware cloth, is manufactured by taking (usually) low carbon steel wire mesh and galvanizing (zinc coating) it following weaving or welding. This process differs from the galv before wire mesh production process where strands of low carbon steel wire are first galvanized and then woven or welded together into mesh. While galv after wire cloth is slightly more expensive than galv before, it offers better corrosion resistance, especially when welded material is used in outdoor settings. This is because the protective zinc coating is burnt off when galv before material is welded together, leaving its weld joints exposed and unprotected. When woven together, galv before offers similar levels of corrosion protection as galv after.

Galvanized welded mesh
Welded wire mesh is a metal mesh constructed with perpendicular wires that fuse together at their intersections using a resistance welding process. The resulting weld points secure the wires in a fixed grid that holds its shape. The lack of movement between wires helps to create a sturdy and durable material that exceeds expectations.
SUNON over 20 years of expertise in wire mesh manufacturing. Today, we continue to produce dependable mesh solutions tailored to a diverse range of applications. Our welded wire mesh is trusted by professionals across various industries, including industrial, agricultural, and architectural sectors, for crafting infill panels, machine guards, security cages, and beyond. Every mesh product is made to order, ensuring each customer receives precisely what they require. Whether selecting from our extensive range of standard specifications or exploring our abundant customization options, SUNON wire cloth has the perfect welded wire mesh solution for you.

Hastelloy
HASTELLOY® C-276 Wire Mesh – Alloy Overview
Hastelloy C-276 wire mesh (aka Alloy C-276) is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium superalloy, with added iron (5.5%) and tungsten (3.75%), engineered to have superior resistance in a wide variety of severely corrosive environments. Its high nickel (~57%) and molybdenum (~16%) content give Alloy C-276 wire cloth excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting in reducing environments. Its chromium (15.5%) content further provides excellent resistance in various oxidizing settings. Additionally, the low carbon (<=.01%) content of Hastelloy C-276 minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, allowing Alloy C-276 wire mesh to be used without subsequent annealing of the weld joints, even in severely corrosive environments. Some characteristics of Hastelloy C-276 wire cloth which dictate its use are:
- One of the most versatile corrosion resistant alloys available.
- Ideal for use in high-temperature, extremely corrosive chemical environments.
- Superior corrosion resistance in broad range of industrial and chemical settings.
- Able to resist corrosion against wet chlorine gas, chlorine dioxide, and hypochlorite.
- Good for use in hydrofluoric acid; great for use against caustics and hydrochloric acid.
- Excellent for use against pitting & crevice corrosion in chlorides, chloride stress corrosion cracking, and sulphuric acid.
- Resists oxidation up to 1900°F temperatures.
- Max operating temperature of 1800°F.
- Can be cut, formed, and welded.
